To emerge out of isolation and to promote country’s unique culture, Bhutan started with tourism in 1974. Though the number of tourists visiting the country is increasing annually yet, the Tourism Council of Bhutan monitors the number of tourist. This is to ensure that no negative impact is brought to the country’s pristine natural environment and its unique culture. Thus Bhutan’s tourism policy of “high value, low impact” was introduced.
The chief attraction in Bhutan for the tourists are; the country’s clean atmosphere with beautiful landscapes, the fortresses towering every districts and the unique culture and tradition.
